Large Bike Shipping & Oversized Delivery Charges

Larger bikes can create a parcel around 154 × 22 × 77 cm. At this size, couriers class the box as oversized and calculate the charge using its volume rather than only its physical weight. This is why larger bikes cost considerably more to send.

Before you order

Large bikes are excluded from free UK shipping promotions. Checkout may show a delivery charge, but some oversized shipments, particularly to Europe, the USA and other international destinations, must be quoted manually. If an additional surcharge is required, we will contact you after the order is placed and before dispatch.

Why the box size changes the price

Couriers use volumetric measurements for large parcels. A bike may not be especially heavy, but a box around 154 cm long occupies far more vehicle and depot space than a standard parcel.

  • Large-bike boxes can trigger an oversized-parcel surcharge
  • The final rate depends on the packed dimensions and destination
  • Available couriers and surcharges vary by country and postcode
  • We may need to confirm an additional charge after checkout

We will contact you before dispatch if the amount already paid does not cover the available oversized service.

STANDARD BOXED DELIVERY

How your bike arrives as standard

Our suppliers receive bikes in their original factory boxes with protective packaging. When a bike sells, we open the box as needed to add Waller BMX promotional items and stickers, but we do not fully unpack, build and inspect every bike unless our paid Bike Assembly service is purchased.

A standard boxed bike will require you to fit and set up:

  • The front wheel
  • The pedals
  • The handlebars
  • The seat and seat post
  • The brake cable and brake, where fitted

The bike must be assembled correctly and safety checked before riding. If you are not confident doing this, use a competent cycle mechanic or purchase our assembly service where available.

OPTIONAL PAID SERVICE

Want your BMX delivered approximately 99% assembled?

Our Waller BMX Bike Assembly service is available for bikes with 12″, 14″, 16″, 18″ or 20″ wheels. We build the bike and repack it so it arrives far more assembled than a standard factory-boxed bike.

The assembly fee covers the build service. Because an assembled bike needs a larger box, the applicable oversized-bike delivery surcharge is charged separately.

How an oversized order is confirmed

    You place the order

    Checkout collects the available delivery charge, but this may not be the final oversized rate.

  2. 2

    We confirm the courier cost

    We check the packed size, destination and available service. If more is due, we contact you before dispatch.

  3. 3

    The bike is dispatched

    Once the shipping charge is confirmed, the boxed bike is sent using the appropriate oversized service.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

Sending a bike outside the UK?

Oversized courier rates for Europe, the USA and other international destinations often need to be confirmed manually after checkout. We will contact you if the amount paid does not cover the available service. International orders are sent Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), meaning import VAT, duties and clearance charges are paid by the customer.

Good to know

The checkout price may be an estimate rather than the final oversized-bike quote. You are welcome to message us before ordering if you would like us to check your destination.

DAMAGED IN TRANSIT

If the box or bike arrives damaged

  1. Photograph the outside of the box before opening it.
  2. Photograph the bike, damage and internal packaging.
  3. Email sales@wallerbmx.co.uk within 48 hours where possible.
  4. Do not assemble or ride the bike.
  5. Keep the bike and all packaging while we investigate.

Reporting damage quickly helps us raise the courier claim. This does not affect your statutory rights.

LOST SHIPMENTS

If your bike does not arrive

Contact us if tracking stops updating or the delivery estimate passes. We will:

  • Open an investigation with the courier
  • Keep you updated while they trace the shipment
  • Arrange the appropriate replacement or refund if the shipment is confirmed lost
